Simplify Your Business Plans to Grow
Are you content with how your business is growing?
When I was asked the question, “What do you do when business isn’t good? How do you handle it?”
My answer is this: I seek God’s will in all I do and simplify.
If I’m going to live the authentic life of a business leader who lives by faith and runs my business by the book (the Word of God), then I have to think and walk like Christ.
Either I trust his word to be true and his promises to be faithful, or I am a fraud.
I keep returning to these Scriptures to keep me focused and on the right path. It’s far too easy to think I’m wise and seek my own counsel, so I must seek God’s way:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take. ( Proverbs 3:-5, 6 )
I don’t want my hard work to be wasted, and I want to be clear that what I’m building is what he intended:
Unless the Lord builds a house,
the work of the builders is wasted.
Unless the Lord protects a city,
guarding it with sentries will do no good.
It is useless for you to work so hard
from early morning until late at night,
anxiously working for food to eat;
for God gives rest to his loved ones. ( Psalm 127:1, 2 )
I want to minimize worry, be at peace with the path he has shown me to follow, and pursue truth and beauty:
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. ( Philippians 4:6-8 )
I’ve worked with consultants and followed their advice; I’ve tried reading business and leadership books; I’ve listened to the counsel of colleagues and friends. Each has its time, value, and place.
There is only one from whom I can seek counsel who is always reliable and will guide me in the best way for me.
The Lord promises us in Psalm 32:8 “The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.”
