Being Grateful the Other 364 Days
“Give thanks to the Lord because he is good, because his mercy endures forever.”
As I think of the conversations I have with people about worship, calling, and why work matters to God, I give thanks for everyone who reads EntreWorship.
Why I’m grateful for you
I’m reminded of you when I read the Apostle Paul’s first prayer in Philippians, in verses 3-11, and I’m grateful for you:
“I thank my God for all the memories I have of you. Every time I pray for all of you, I do it with joy. I can do this because of the partnership we’ve had with you in the Good News from the first day you believed until now. I’m convinced that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it through to completion on the day of Christ Jesus. You have a special place in my heart . So it’s right for me to think this way about all of you. All of you are my partners. Together we share God’s favor, whether I’m in prison or defending and confirming the truth of the Good News. God is my witness that, with all the compassion of Christ Jesus, I long to see every one of you.
I pray that your love will keep on growing because of your knowledge and insight. That way you will be able to determine what is best and be pure and blameless until the day of Christ. Jesus Christ will fill your lives with everything that God’s approval produces. Your lives will then bring glory and praise to God.” — GOD’S WORD Translation
What’s the point of celebrating thankfulness on one day each year when we’re also called to be thankful the other 364 days of the year?
Is gratitude a choice — a matter of perspective — or both?
I know each of you has abundant reasons to be thankful. We can’t help but thrive when gratitude is a daily practice in our homes and businesses.
Being thankful is a discipline, a beautiful habit we must practice daily.
Gratitude flows from within, from a deeper well of experience and awareness, because we receive abundant grace and mercy daily.
Who we are and whom we are becoming is reflected by the love we show and the impact we make in the lives of the people with whom God surrounds us.
