The Root Cause of Busyness
“Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don‘t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.”
“We ran out of time.”
Our apparent lack of time always weighs on my mind.
Why does time appear to be the one thing of which we never have enough?
If God’s grace is sufficient, why does the time God gives us seem insufficient?
We all get the same amount of time each day: 24 hours for relationships, work, rest, and recreation. We must make room for worship, prayer, and fellowship with our Savior.
Time, like money, is a resource we must steward for God’s glory. Like other resources, we have an abundance or a scarcity mindset toward the time we receive and our options for stewarding it.
Our choices — and what we’re willing to say no to — open or close doors to opportunity.
When I discuss making good choices with my father, he always reminds me, “Sometimes the choice isn’t about better and best. Sometimes, it's about choosing between two of the best options.”
The root cause of busyness isn’t a lack of time.
The root cause of busyness is that we fail to say no more often.
