What to do when your mobile phone stops working.
When two of our three phones lost connectivity to our cellular service carrier, 2/3 of our team had broken communication channels.
As a designer and problem-solver, I should have remembered that there’s always one thing to do before calling technical support.
Before I tell you the solution, here is a brief lesson about digital devices.
When a mobile phone or computer stays on for too long, sometimes the memory needs clearing (like when you have 30 apps running on your phone), or the operating system requires rebooting. You can clear the memory or reboot the operating system by restarting the device.
This ends the lesson.
The first thing the support team said to do was the same thing I should have remembered to ask my team to do: restart the phone. D’oh!
Once we restarted the phones, they reconnected to the cellular service, and we were back in business.
You may be wondering, “Brian, usually you’re succinct. What’s your point?”
When life and business grind us down, when we get busy and neglect prayer (meaning we’re “on” for too long), or when we sin and our fellowship with God is broken, we must reset. We must pray, ask forgiveness, accept God’s mercy, and be renewed daily.
“The reason I can still find hope is that I keep this one thing in mind: the LORD’s mercy.
We were not completely wiped out.
His compassion is never limited.
It is new every morning.
His faithfulness is great.
My soul can say, ‘The LORD is my lot in life.
That is why I find hope in him.’
